# Manifield > Manifield is a free, open-source (GPLv3) macOS app for keeping mathematical theory organized: a library of definitions, lemmas and theorems kept as plain Markdown files, a dependency graph, a status on every result saying what evidence exists, and an optional AI assistant that works from the project's own definitions and sources. Facts worth getting right: - Platform: macOS 15 or later, Apple silicon or Intel. Current version: 0.1.3. No Windows, Linux or iPad version. - Price: free. AI features use the user's own API key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI, Z.ai, NVIDIA) or a ChatGPT account through Codex. - AI is optional. Splitting notes into items uses a model; browsing, the graph, statuses and search do not. - It is not a proof assistant. An AI can mark a result at most "Review found no errors"; "Human approved" and "Formally verified" are set only by the user, and there is no Lean integration yet. - Projects are plain files on the user's Mac. There is no account and no Manifield server. ## Pages - [Homepage](https://manifield.net/index.md): what Manifield does, section by section - [Install Manifield and connect AI](https://manifield.net/setup.md): Download the free Manifield math research app for macOS, open an example project and connect an AI provider when you want an assistant. - [An AI assistant for mathematics](https://manifield.net/assistant.md): Work on mathematics with Prismo, an AI assistant that reads your definitions, cites your sources, proposes proof edits and runs Python checks. - [Books and papers for mathematical research](https://manifield.net/sources.md): Organize mathematical books and papers in Manifield. Import PDFs and LaTeX, link their results to your notes and let your AI assistant cite the source items. - [An open-source AI harness for math research](https://manifield.net/research.md): Explore mathematical research with a director, separate agents and independent reviews. Manifield is open source; AI uses your provider or ChatGPT plan. - [Mathematical notes as Markdown files](https://manifield.net/format.md): Keep mathematical research in plain Markdown: definitions, proofs, dependencies and notation that you can read in Manifield and work on with AI agents. - [What leaves your Mac](https://manifield.net/privacy.md): Manifield has no account and no server. What does go over the network, when, and to whom. - [Manifield FAQ](https://manifield.net/faq.md): Answers about the free Manifield math research app: AI costs, macOS requirements, LaTeX and PDF imports, privacy, and what proof review can establish. - [Studying advanced mathematics with AI](https://manifield.net/studying-mathematics.md): Use your own mathematics notes with Manifield. Organize definitions, follow theorem dependencies and ask an AI assistant to explain a proof using your sources. - [The closed graph theorem: a worked example with AI](https://manifield.net/baire-example.md): Follow the closed graph theorem in Manifield's Baire notes, inspect its dependencies and check the missing norm estimate in an unfinished proof. ## Explore - [Euclid's Elements, Book I, as a graph](https://manifield.net/euclid/): 142 items, 190 citations; Pythagoras (I.47) rests on 40 earlier results - [Your LaTeX as a graph](https://manifield.net/tex/): an in-browser tool that draws the graph of a .tex file's \label and \ref links ## Optional - [Source code](https://github.com/stanislaw13/Manifield) - [Example project](https://github.com/stanislaw13/Manifield/tree/main/examples/baire-category) - [Everything above in one file](https://manifield.net/llms-full.txt)
